Donation Commitment Policy
1. Purpose
EcoPay is committed to directing a portion of its revenue toward positive social and environmental impact. This Donation Commitment Policy outlines how EcoPay calculates, allocates, and distributes donations to ensure transparency, consistency, and accountability.
2. Source of Donations
All donations made by EcoPay are funded exclusively from EcoPay’s own revenue.
EcoPay does not collect donations from customers on behalf of third parties, nor does it conduct public fundraising on behalf of charities.
3. Donation Commitment
EcoPay commits to donating 20% of EcoPay’s transaction fee revenue derived from domestic card transactions processed through the EcoPay platform.
For the avoidance of doubt:
The donation amount is calculated from the transaction fees charged by EcoPay to merchants, not from the full transaction value paid by customers.
Donations are calculated before any third-party processing fees (including Tyro Payments fees) are deducted.
Once transaction fee revenue is earned, the donation commitment is applied consistently and is not discretionary.
4. Eligible Transactions
Only the following transactions are included in the donation calculation:
Domestic card transactions, defined as card transactions where the card is issued in Australia and processed in Australian dollars (AUD)
Transactions that have successfully settled and are not subsequently refunded or reversed
The following are excluded from the calculation:
International card transactions
Refunds, chargebacks, or reversed transactions
Taxes, including GST
Third-party processing costs or pass-through fees
5. Calculation Methodology
For each monthly reporting period, EcoPay calculates donations as follows:
Total EcoPay transaction fee revenue from domestic card transactions
Less exclusions outlined in Section 4
Resulting transaction fee revenue
20% of this amount is allocated to the donation pool
This calculation methodology is applied consistently across all reporting periods.
6. Handling of Funds
Amounts allocated to the donation pool are transferred into a separately designated internal account used solely for the purpose of managing charitable distributions.
Funds allocated to this account are not used for operational expenses and are reserved for donation distribution in accordance with this policy.
7. Distribution of Donations
Donations are distributed monthly by EcoPay to eligible recipient organisations in accordance with EcoPay’s internal distribution processes.
8. Transparency and Reporting
EcoPay is committed to transparency and will publish monthly public donation reporting, which will include:
EcoPay revenue
Total donation amounts allocated for the reporting period
Distribution timing
Aggregate donation outcomes
Supporting records and confirmations of payments are retained by EcoPay and may be made available to recipient organisations upon request.
9. No Endorsement or Partnership Implied
The allocation or receipt of donations does not imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation between EcoPay and any recipient organisation unless expressly agreed in writing.
10. Business Cessation
In the event that EcoPay ceases operations, any undistributed funds that have been allocated to the donation pool in accordance with this policy will be distributed in line with this policy as soon as reasonably practicable.
11. Amendments
EcoPay may update this Donation Commitment Policy from time to time to reflect operational, regulatory, or business changes. Any material changes will be published on EcoPay’s website.
